BUT, no time to rest, it doesn’t end there! It’s time to think of my favourite things!
Accessories! That’s right, a girl can NOT have too many of those, so if you are anything like me, with drawers full of Sunglasses, jewelry, hats and more – lets make them work for you, and your beautiful face shape!
If you have a HEART shaped face…
Wear: Your goal is to choose a pair of eyeglasses that will provide contrast to your heart face shape and not imitate it. Stay away from aviator glasses or shades because they will only emphasize the shape of your face. You must also remember to avoid semi rimmed glasses, as they will draw attention to the wider part of your face. To minimize the width of the top of the face, try frames that are wider at the bottom, very light colors and materials and rimless frame styles.
Wear: Look for pieces with curves. Elongated curves will help to balance out the face and will draw attention to the eyes, cheekbones, and jaw line. Women with heart-shaped faces look particularly good in dangle, teardrop, and chandelier style earrings. Choose diamond shapes to add an interesting contrast to the face.
Wear: Go with medium brimmed hats, such as a fedora with a medium sized brim, boater, cloche, homburg, beanie, beret or toque. These balance out the width of your forehead and can prevent your jaw line from appearing narrow. Slanting the hat to one side will slim your face and draw attention to the eyes.
If you have a ROUND shaped face…
Wear: If you have a round face, softer angles in the brow and jaw lines, or rectangular frame styles are definitely for you. They will flatter your face, making it appear slimmer and longer. Choosing frames that are narrow and rectangular, with brow bars, will pull the eye upward, giving the illusion of a longer face rather than just a round one, and a more defined shape overall.
Wear: Aim to elongate the face and minimize a puffy appearance by choosing teardrop and dangle styles. Look for those pieces that have long, angular designs as opposed to rounded designs. Most women with round faces should avoid dangling circular discs as these can make the face look wider. It is almost always best for women with round faces to choose earrings of a thin to medium width
Wear: You can perfectly handle a fedora, a newsboy hat or a baseball cap. It is wise to select a hat with a high crown and straight brim in order to give your face more angles. Moreover, slanting your hat forward draws out your face and gives a touch of definition.
If you have a LONG or OVAL shaped face…
Wear: You lucky thing! Your choice is wide and varied, and there isn’t any real limit as to what kind of glasses and in what shape you should buy. If you prefer to keep the oval’s natural balance, look for eyeglass frames that are as wide as (or wider than) the broadest part of the face, or walnut-shaped frames that are not too deep or too narrow.
Wear: Create a dramatic look by wearing oval-shaped dangling earrings. This will draw attention to the face’s elegant shape without adding any width or length. Women with oval faces also look stunning when wearing teardrop styles. These pieces accentuate the face’s natural shape and create a sense of symmetry or balance.
Wear: Try a hat with a flared brim and low crown, such as a sunhat, a cloche or a fedora with a large brim. The large brim of a sunhat may well offset the length of a long face. A cloche worn low to your eyebrows can help conceal your high forehead, and can create an impression of a shortened face.
If you have a SQUARE shaped face…
Wear: Your best bet is to consider oval frames that are narrow in width, which will make a square face look longer and soften the angles. Frames of this style can soften the jaw line, place emphasis on the eyes and lengthen the nose. Square framed styles will achieve the opposite effect, and look out of balance with the rest of the face.
Wear: Choose earrings with rounded designs that soften the cheekbones and jaw line. The best choices are elongated, dangling styles and hoops. Choose oversized hoops that brush the jaw line or extend below the jaw line. Such hoops will both soften the face and make it appear smaller. Women with square faces should avoid wearing very wide earrings.
Wear: Hats with a round crown and brim will do the trick – smoothing a boxy face and inducing the illusion of height and roundness. Opt for a sunhat, a cowboy hat, a homburg, or a cloche, which gives you a feminine and flirty touch. A beret will elongate and cushion your facial contour. Tilting the hat off to one side breaks up the symmetry pattern of your square face
If you have a DIAMOND shaped face…
Wear: To ensure you suit your face with your glasses, make sure the frames are no wider than your cheekbones. Frames with a soft curve, such as oval shape will suit you or styles that add width to your brow – maybe with some bling or decoration, or bright colors even on the top half.
Wear: Choose shapes that add width to your jaw-line. Your best shapes are narrower at the top and wider at the bottom, such as, tear drops. pear shapes. triangle and oval shapes.
Wear: You need to appear broader in the forehead, so hats should do that – large brims are perfect on you.
If you have a TRIANGLE shaped face…
Wear: Your best styles have the following characteristics…
Frames that have design detail and color at the top of the frame , frames that are heavy at the top, frames with cat-eye or oval shapes, frames slightly wider than your temples.
Wear: Earrings that are longer than they are wide will help balance your features and draw attention down. Avoid anything ‘triangular’ in shape for your ears as they will add width to the part of your face that is widest.
Wear: Anything that adds width to your forehead will suit you best – so wide brimmed sun hats that are all the rage, are your friend this summer! Try anything with height at the crown also, as this will draw attention upwards.
If you have a OBLONG shaped face…
Wear: You should look for the following characteristics when choosing any frames – this goes for sunglasses or regular glasses. Look for frames with depth as well as width to make your face appear shorter. Glasses with
decorative or contrasting temples will look great on you, and look for a
low bridge to shorten a longer nose.
Wear: Look for earrings that are wider rather than longer – round, square or fan shapes will suit you. Look out for teardrop shapes or small hoops and make sure any drop earrings fall no further than the chin.
Wear: Look for a full or upturned brim to balance out your features and face shape. Hats with height in the crown will serve to lengthen your face, so avoid these if possible.
